הסדנה הוקמה בשנת 1975 על ידי ויק לפג'יאן, בן הקהילה הארמנית המקומית שאביו, איש חינוך ופטריוט ארמני, שלח אותו להשלים את לימודיו באקדמיה לאמנויות בירוואן, בירת ארמניה, בשנות השישים. בשובו ארצה החל לעסוק לראשונה בעיטור קרמיקה ועד היום סגנונו ייחודי ומגוון, מציורים ריאליסטים, לדגמים בשחור ובלבן ועד לדגמים המסורתיים. נושא טבח העם הארמני מעסיק את ויק ביצירותיו וכן החיים בירושלים בין בני העדות והדתות השונות.
Vic’s Art Studio was opened in 1975 by Vic Lepejian, a member of the Jerusalem Armenian community. In the 1960's, Vic's father, a local educator and an Armenian patriot, sent his son to complete his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Yerevan. Upon his return to Jerusalem, Vic began painting and decorating ceramics, developing a unique and varied style, ranging from realistic paintings, to black and white patterns and traditional designs. The Armenian Genocide continues to be a central focus of Vic's work as well as the daily life of members of the various communities and religions in Jerusalem.

דימוי הצלוב בגזע העץ מייצג את האומה הארמנית, הסבל וטבח העם שחוותה. אולם שורשיה איתנים ולכן שרדו אלפי שנים. העיגול במרכז הגזע הוא סמל לנצח, מתחתיו הכתובת 'לזכרם ולישועתם של הארמנים' מפסיפס הציפורים העתיק. חמש הציפורים משני צדדי הגזע מסמלות את פיזור הארמנים בחמש יבשות העולם ומעל מתנשא הר אררט שתיבת נח בפסגתו. הרימון וגרעיניו, סמל הפריון והשפע, מייצגים את אדם וחוה אבות המין האנושי במצוות האל. שבעת הרימונים ושבע הציפורים מייצגים את בריאת העולם בשבעה ימים. הנשר במרכז העץ מסמל את עוצמת העם הארמני ומימינו הפרח הסגול "אל תשכחוני", הסמליל הרשמי שעוצב לציון מאה שנים לטבח העם.

The trunk of the tree with the crucified shape represents the Armenian nation, the suffering, the genocide; but the roots are strong that they survived for more than 2000 years.
The circle at the base of the trunk is an ancient Armenian eternity symbol.
The inscription below is from a 5th-century mosaic floor; it reads “In memory & salvation of Armenians…"
The five birds on either side of the tree trunk represent Armenians dispersed in five continents of the world.
Mount Ararat & Noah's Arch, the sacred mountain of Armenia.
The pomegranate is Adam & Eve, and its seeds symbolize fertility. When God created the world he said be fruitful and multiply.
The seven pomegranates and seven birds on the tree symbolize the creation of the world in seven days.
The eagle at the center of the tree symbolizes the strength of Armenians, and to the right is the Forget-me-not flower, the official logo for the genocide centennial.

بإذن من الفنّان
في قاعدة الشجرة دائرة ترمز إلى الخلود، جذعها يرمز إلى المصلوب (المسيح)، وكلّها تمثل معاناة الشعب الأرمنيّ ونهضته. العصافير الخمسة الاسفل ترمز إلى القارات الخمس التي تهجّر اليها الأرمن أمّا العصافير السبعة في الاعلى فترمز إلى أيّام الخليقة السبعة. فوق الجميع يرتفع جبل أرارات من الوطن الأرمنيّ والكتابة تخليدا "لذكرى الأرمن"، وهي من فسيفساء العصافير القديمة.
